O

One_of_them

guys whats your preference when fitting external accessories (sockets particularly)?

do you straight rear entry with cable and cake in silicone to prevent ingress
do you fit the masterseal cable entry grommet
are you a conduit man right through wall and into box

sure there is a couple others

just trying to gauge how others go about it.

bottom entry wherever i can. rear if client wants no cable on show. plenty gunge behind box, though, and a drain hole in the bottom of the patress,

I always use Master seal sockets.
I normally do rear entry (that sounds bad!)
I always drill the small drain hole at the bottom and I always put a nice small tidy bead of clear builders silicone between the back of the socket and wall.

Start by drilling all holes for cable and fixings first (back of the box) and make sure all lines-up and is level. Drill 3mm drainage hole into bottom of IP rated box.
Cable through the wall, builders silicone around it into the hole. Nice ring of silicone around the cable, press IP rated box onto wall and fix with screws.
Tidy silicone up inside box. Connect and fix front.

I also prefer bottom entry, and plenty of gunge in the box till it drains out of the bottom, rear entry is also nice, depends on the customers preference. But back to sockets, i fit them as best i can, depends on where it is to be sited.

Just needed pictures and that would have been a perfect "How To" :D
