That's a bit of thinking outside the box, both common sense and regs wise! Not to mention a bloody death trap!

Wow that takes the biscuit, a lot of the stuff we see on here is ridiculous but not always as dangerous as this!

bloody horrendous. beige tiles and sky blue wall.

No discrimination either. Unless one of the BS 1362's has been replaced by an M4 stud.

I recall Trev calls these "widow-makers." I'm inclinded to agree. Shocking.

Tut-tut. You should know by now that the approved replacement for the BS 1362 fuse is a one inch length of ¼ inch studding or round bar (to match the imperial fuse sizing).

I came across this same genius idea a few years back and couldn't believe my eyes - and the house owner was a widow !:D

Are you kidding ?? :dunce2:

Must admit that I, too, was wondering what possible reason the householder had for doing this.

I would bet that if they needed an extra socket, that lead would be pulled straight out of the two gang. And then the fun would start when they try and work out why it then doesn't work!

Here is some things I've found over the years saw 100x more which is scary!

The double had a 1.5 out the back feeding the programmer.

I wonder if it was done like that to make it easy to run the heating off a generator using a longer widow maker cable?

Nice pictures Grant. I've seen the golf tees used in connector blocks before but not seen the other attempts anywhere

I started out to uncover the wiring behind plasterboard for a bank of four FCUs on the right connected to an RFC, that had to be removed. Then I discovered a separate circuit just above them, that disappears into the wall.

Puzzled by the two cables crossing under the two above circuits, I removed more plasterboard and uncovered a buried box to the left of the socket (this is a third circuit).

This was the (speaker/bell) cable supplying a small class 1 chandelier with 7 x G9 40W lamps in. Not got to the other end of the cable yet as going to have to lift boards upstairs, but expecting some melting. Customer said it stopped working a little while ago, and 230V no longer present. Cct isolated but customer also a bit miffed that I said to use only table lamps til I can get back!

How will it work by changing the screws? Opening the door just slides the plate off the end of the bolt!
put your glasses on and look again

It's not a tab welded on, it's the other screw behind it...

Although not great it would probably work.
Assuming the door is hinged then the bolt looks like it would stop the door swinging open, the bolt is straight but the bracket through which it passes will not be moving in a straight line and would hit the bolt.
