The whole thing.. I just don't understand any of it
I am now working as a Process Operator so changed my units slightly and purchased Distributed Control Systems.
I have just submitted TMA1 of the DCS unit and to be honest for the assignment I copied diagrams and extracts from the Blackboard lessons. Some of the questions were exactly the same as the lesson self-assessment questions. Hopefully I haven't achieved a low mark for being lazy but I couldn't see an alternative way of answering. Compared to the heavy mathematics of EEP it seems way too quick and easy.

This one is a pig to be honest, the content is in the lesson notes to get you through it, but you really do need to siege through the crap for the equations/methods to answer them. Synethesis of the complex waveform took me a few weeks or researching software which could do it and I can let you know what it is etc when on it

I’m struggling a bit with the distributed control systems module (DCS). All the answers are pretty much in the book but it seems too easy and I’ve been marked down a bit before for short answers on the pneumatics module. I can’t find any reading material in regards to taking the answers further. There isn’t even a module reading list on blackboard. Does anyone who has done DCS module want to swap notes etc? It’s my 7th module so happy to swap notes on my other modules
No sorry, was looking at it though because I need to start my next module, not sure what to go for tbh.
How is it so far?

It’s not too bad but as I said there’s not really any additional information that I can find that provides further background. All of the answers seem to be in the book but I’m just very cautious about copying directly. I’ve not handed anything in yet so not sure what they’re looking for really. I had a question on the pneumatics module TMA that was exactly the same as one of the questions in the earlier self assessments. I copied their answer word for word and got marked down for providing too short an answer.

I've completed the maths bridging module and submitted my results over a week ago, how do i progress onto beginning the full HNC?
Think once it comes back as passed they’ll inform you so you can purchase your first module or you can call up the tuole admin team and ask to be enrolled onto it (easier in my opinion as they are very helpful normally)
Yeah if anyone else gets in a similar situation as me whereby you're waiting to progress after completing the maths bridging module, send an email to the admin team, they'll immediately process you!

has anyone done applications of pneumatics and hydraulics? stuck on tma1 q4 and q7 about modifying the circuits?
I can’t find the Lighting unit on the online shop or in the module list I was originally provided with. Do you have to request it?

I have just started my HNC having completed the FME maths.
Jumped straight into PLC (seemed like a good idea at the time). I have followed most of it reasonably well but have come across a few questions in the TMA which I am strugglinging with.
Is anyone else on the PLC or who have completed recently who may be able to offer any advice?

Hi There. A bit about myself, Im a time served electrician self employed for around 20 years. As time went by the knees started to play up, so hung up the tools and started working for a large electronics manufacturing company working as an electrical safety engineer. My qualifications as it stands are: 2330 L3, 2394, 2395, 18th, 2919, 2377. I have always wanted to undertake the HNC, but with work and family commitments back then, I put it on hold. I am now 41 with grown up kids and a little spare time. I approached my company and asked if they would support me financially through the HNC, and they agreed. I contacted Teesside to undertake the HNC via distance learning. I have been accepted on the course but you have probably already guessed it, ill have to complete the bridging math course before i can start the HNC. I have been given 6 months to complete this math course. My question is, how long did it take you guys to complete the bridging math course? I enjoy maths but its been a while. I did a GCSE equivalent higher paper through the OU around 5 years ago (just so i'm up to speed when it came to the kids maths home work)

Welcome to the group and best of luck with the studies ahead!
I helped my work colleague through his maths bridge (I fortunately didn't have to do it for mine!) it is aimed I'd say just higher than gcse maths. You do a bit of stuff with algebra, trigonometry, calculus (hardest thing you might not have done) and statistics I believe. We smashed through it in about a month to 2 months and that was solely him with a little bit of guidance from me when it came to the TMAs. The lesson notes are very good and will easily get you through it!
And regardless you have a good group here who do try to help each other out so any issues just give us a shout. I'm quite active on the forum so feel free to message me.
