Hi all, how does this work? Does each edge of the face plate just sit over the wall?

The 2-gang socket fits centrally over the mounting box, the earth pins are the longest and need to recess into the wall a little, the other pins don't (the faceplate is much thicker than a standard socket).

I'm not a fan, I don't think they look particularly elegant, but for solid walls offer a quick way of converting 1 gang to 2 gang. With a stud wall, it is not particularly difficult to just cut out a larger hole for a drylining box.
 
the fixing screws are just under the earth pin and fit a single back box, so anything outboard of them sits on the wall.
