Power connection of unknown source (prob socket spur) connected to outdoor light. Can i disconnect the existing light. Connect up RCD plug and then connect a switch to control a new outdoor light like picScreenshot_20210909-160824_Outlook.jpg

It needs to be established If the internal socket is connected from a 30/32A ring final circuit and that it is part of the ring final and not a spur itself. If it is part of the ring final then it needs a fused spur prior to the new socket and light. If your consumer unit has 30ma rcd protection for this circuit then there is no need for the outside socket to be an rcd socket.
