Hi all,

I recently undertook the 2396 design course and have passed the exam. I am now looking to undertake the portfolio but because i have never done an electrical design before dont know where to start.

Can anyone assist at all with the fundamental steps you take each time you undertake an electrical design.

So you've done the Level 4 Design course but don't know how to design? Forgive me but how does that work? Was it a course or exam only? The perquisites of the course require you to gave a fundamental knowledge of basic design and good undering of current regulations? The whole point of thr course is to improve and expand your knowledge of design. If your knowledge is just the contents of Section 7 of OSG then I would strongly question how ypu got the qualification in the first place; this isn't an attack on you, more an observation of a questionable test centre.

I would suggest getting your regs book out and working through Regulation Group 131 and 132, probably the entire Chapter 13.

A starting point would be this playlist; https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLg1OV4f2xHzU1TfUQsQXFKd_tPGnn8XxV

Very odd, I knew exactly what to do after the theory was completed. The lessens were all based around preparing for the project.

Can your tutor not offer assistance?
