Difference Megger 1730 and 1835

Hello, I'm a dutch electrician and I want to buy a Megger Installation Tester. I working in the Solar environment and find out that the Megger 1835 (incl RCD B) is good for me. Now I learned that there is also a Megger 1730 and this one looks the same. The 1730 is for the UK and the 1835 is non UK. Has somebody a 1730 and use it outside the UK? Who uses a 1835?

As I understand it there is essentially no difference in the hardware of the two models, it is the firmware that is installed which tailors the functions to the specific safety requirements in the UK, so with just a firmware change a 1835 can morph into a 1730 and vice versa.

I understand that.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't like the idea of a firmware change when equipment is new.

I have no idea how much requirements in the UK are different from the rest of Europe. Because, there are differences between the Netherlands and Germany and Megger is selling the 1835 to all these countries.
I have to think about the consequences and do some research on the internet.
Maybe I can find a equal price for the 1835 Kit compare to the 1730.

If your not happy with firmware changes mate, I would steer clear of the Megger 17xx and 18xx series of testers as there have been numerous firmware updates (20 plus versions and counting) on these models in the UK since their introduction just over a year ago and they still haven't got the 2 wire loop test functioning fit for purpose. If you do get one, ideally get your Megger agent to ensure you have the latest firmware installed at the point of purchase, or updated free of charge under warranty ASAP.

The difference between the MFT1700 and MFT1800 models is not just a firmware change. The printed circuit assemblies, in each Series, are completely different due to the different function requirements between the UK and the continent.

Regarding firmware updates; Megger, like most electronic companies, may add refinements to their products via firmware. These refinements may be very minor or more obvious to the end user. Since the launch of the MFT1700 Series there have less than 6 firmware changes.
