Manager says we had a pir on one of the cottages and Sparky man says that the sub main hasn't an isolator, can you sort one out.

It's fed from here, another cottage next door.

A pair of 16mm t&e feeds 2 cottages from the henleys.
urmmmm i think it needs a bit more than an isolator.
You’ll never be short of a Henley block after sorting that lot.

It is possible to make consumer units out of the same material as the meter, however, it would likely depend on the specific material in question and the requirements for the consumer unit.

In general, consumer units (also known as electrical distribution boards) must meet certain safety and performance standards, such as those established by national and international electrical codes. The material used to manufacture a consumer unit must meet these standards and be able to withstand the electrical and environmental conditions it will be exposed to.

I think it was a tongue in cheek comment.

Mmmmmmm, where to start here
I like the attention to detail to label the colour-coded wired L and N with a high contrast pen or similar. Shame they don't seem to have linked up the T&E's CPC of course!

I'm sure the terminal blocks were left like that for ventilation to keep them cool?

It is left as an exercise for the reader to decide if the supply earth or one of the cables would burn out first in the event of a fault...

Can you get our light working?

Interesting replacing these knackered fluorescent boxes with led frames.

Been back today to replace isolate the circuit and replace one fitting with led frame.
Awful job trying fix the frame to lath and plaster ceiling and meet up with existing stuff. Besides that, two circuits involved and one fitting looped off without earth (earth in connector)...after linking both circuit earths. Old colours original circuit.

Best thing with lathe, pepper the fitting with holes and hope at least three get a bite.
Agree, but a bit more difficult with the replacement 'fit together' frame about an inch wide with no back.

Managed it...I think it's a 2 man job though. Drilled a couple more fix holes to line up with a joist and then a bit of head balancing.

Cut a big hole in the ceiling which is hidden by the fitting and put a couple of battens up there to screw into.

Patch up the hole to stop the rubbish falling through, but it doesn't need to be neat as it is hidden by the fitting.
