what's wrong with BG? never had any problems with loads of BG kit since the issue with tight screws being backed off and secured with loctite.That is terrible …...

Not calling you a liar but you'd have to try pretty hard to do worse than that.
I have seen worse where the tenant had used cat5 for basement lighting fed from a B50 mcb for some led fittings!

E2A sorry I can't stand the suspense. You have to tell us what the polarity of the 'submain' is, what with the brown wires all being connected to the case and that. Pleeeease say it's the neutral or show us the other end.
