Downlights if fitted horizontal ie in a wall do they retain the fire rating I have my doubts on this as the side of the can will take most of the heat ??

What does the manual say? It should tell you if you can or not.
 
I dont have any, seldom fitted any, I think they are pot ugly, however a shop owner I know asked if they could be fitted as window lighting around the inside
