Maestro

I was at a site change over on thursday where 7 portakabins where getting removed to make way for 7 new ones each was supplied by a armour cable 3 core cant rememeber the size

each cabin was supplied from a 32A plug to a plastic isolator on the side of the Cabin where LSF glands(no shroud) where used to terminate into the plastic isolators but no flying earth was taken from the gland via a frying pan/ banjo now i need to go back and reconnect up the 7 new cabins i was wondering should i put flying earths on them or not

Armour MUST be earthed.
Yes there is a reg.
No I'm not going to tell you what it is, IF you come up with some ideas I will consider directing you.
No, I'm not being an arse, if you are not sure, then you need to learn.
It's part of the job.

BTW, I don't particularly care what anyone else thinks of this post, but I'm no longer going to spoon feed people unless they are prepared to at least make an effort themselves.

lol. I do know how the regs work...and yes, i ask to save the time of looking myself.

I won't even ask questions in future. Guessing we all know absolutley everything anyway.

it says it in Tel's book of electrical rules as writ by me and geordie in 1901, is that good enough?

As I tried to mention earlier perhaps my reply was to short. It is possible the armoured is earthed the other end, if the armoured enters a plastic commando socket then the spark doing the original install may have decided the other end where the cable/ cables enter the DB was the best way to earth, might be worth a look that end to confirm rather than guess.

FFS man, we don't all carry the regs with us 24/7. There's always situations where we scratch our heads a bit, unless of course we're electrical gods

We all scratch our heads on times trev, but, I'm not going to hand stuff on a plate to people who can't be bothered to check things out for themselves.

It is just not going to happen.

IF you're not sure look it up and ask for clarification on your research, giving examples.

IF you are on site, and don't have the book, fine, say so, mind there are ways around that these days, personally if I have my mobile phone I have the regs book, all guidance notes, the OSG, the Pt P book and the design guide at least.
IF I have my iPad, then I have a damn site more also.

IF your Job/Business revolves around these and associated documents then you should have them and access to them at suitable times.

Once you have looked up your questions, post your ideas, then I will be more than willing to help.

If you can't be bothered to check things out then stuff you.

sorry 1 of the 3 core i being used an earth i would almost definitely say the plug end has not been terminated into a gland i thought at least 1 end had to be to earth even if the sheath is not used as the main earth hence the question just looking for conformation

1 end goes into a 32A plug and the other end is glanded into a plastic isolator(i just took of the isolator when disconeccting the cabins) it was just no frying pans where used on the terminating of the gland

Literally everything gets left at my back door when i come in from work...and from where im sat now, to the back door is a good 10meters ... far to far with a hangover.

I understand, you're old school. Need not stay away from the forum just because of this thread, as that would be silly.
