I've just realised we have hundreds or maybe thousands of quids worth of random bits of mounting kit in our warehouse from excess in roof mounting kit to extra bits of flat roof kits to the range of kit we use day in day out, and I've no real idea which manufacturers and which kit is going to end up getting MCS certification under MCS 012 by the end of March.

Beyond that point we'll be breaking MCS rules if we use any of it, so effectively we could well end up having to write down that kit as a dead loss.

Even if we did still want to use something on the sly we'd probably not be able to source the extra required to make it up to a full kit.

I notice a few suppliers flogging off excess mounting kit for dirt cheap prices. Presumably this will be kit that is not going to get MCS 012 compliance, so will be obsolete by the end of March.... so buyer beware and all that.

ps in case anyone was thinking this might get delayed, I er have it on good authority that this is not going to happen and the deadline will stand.

They've had nearly 24 months to get it sorted so should not be an issue for those that matter. As I understood it from about 12 months ago (though I may be wrong) if a system was certified to TUV specs it would automatically get MCS012.
