Just wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded the Firmware on the Metrel Mi 3000 easi-plus.....

Work collegue has FW version 1.45 and mine is 1.20....... like all gadgets i like to keep my bits all tickedy boo and brand spankers.

Tried looking on Metrel website regards software and downloadable firmwares and steps on how to do the procedure but seems no info for this model (all for MI3100)

Have the "D" serial plug to connect the unit to PC.

Brilliant Test Kit i must say for such a budget price (have used Robin KT series..... Fluke 1652 and megger and to be honest this is my favourite for ease by far)

Any info would be highly appreciative :lol:

yes I have emailed them last week and have yet to receive a golden reply.
The phone helpline seems to send me to an answering machine which ive left 2 meassages.
Great meter as i say but not so desirable aftersales help :nonod:.
Thought i get more help from fellow bright sparks.
 
Spoke to Metrel a few times with no problems in the past. Possibly not the easiest time to contact them following the holiday break as they are probably trying to catch up on email and voice mail
 
Very true.... I think the christmas pud :cake:digesting has put a strain on the "picking up the phone" action.... Ill try again when they've got bored of watching those Get fit for january DVD'S

Metrel tech support phone contact is open (if my memory serves me correctly) from 9am - 1pm each working day! So god help you if you are stuck in the afternoon!
 
Ahhhh I see. That would explain as I have rang always in the afternoon .

I encountered this "reduced hours of tech support" last Summer in the afternoon and boy was I was stuck. After leaving 3 messages I called Metrel Sales, had a polite moan and got put though to their General Manager!!
 
I can understand your frustrations back then Murdoch ... Very bizarre method of business they do, must say...

Wouldn't it be great to be working on a site... Foreman/Agent storms over with paperwork and drawings in hand in with a quizzical look....act dumb ...must act dumb for we are now at the non technical period of the day..,,, down tools ....then return next day Precisely @9.00am and ask the site agent "Now what was it you wanted to ask"..... ...... mmmmmmm Dribbles in a Homer Simpson style trance ......

hey Murdoch, I don't suppose I can get that firmware off you please? Mine has starting playing silly buggers yesterday and its the mi3000 also. Metrel are closed now and need to get some testing done.
 
This was 3.5 years ago..... I did speak to Metrel @ Elex Sandown Park this year, about their less than appropriate "customer service" and sheer lack of authorised 3rd party service agents..... they said they would call me......the phone has been quiet!

Sorry can't offer anything else.

I don't have the firmware either & I doubt I will buy Metrel again!
