I need a few metres of 2L1 or 2L1.5 plus glands, seals, clips, etc to replace a faulty cable in my local church. I'd prefer the stuff with a white or grey PVC or LS sheath as it'll be running through a stone wall (protection of the copper from chemicals in the mortar) and it would blend in better with the stonework. Also maybe some 3L1 or 3L1.5 to replace some 3 core & earth that someone has lashed in for a PIR, if the church will wear the cost.

I think the existing cable is an old imperial size, as the OD is smaller than listed for 2L1 and I don't think I can get replacement fittings for it.

I have a quote from CEF, who are listed as stockists for Wrexham Mineral Cables, but it seems that they don't really hold stock and it's looking pricy with minimum cable lengths, cutting charges and bag quantities.

There's often odd bits of MICC on eBay, but I'd like to find a regular supplier as I might well need more small quantities in future.

Does anyone know of a supplier, either mail order or with branches in the Guildford / Portsmouth area?

What do the ecclesiastical regs say about using sheathed pyro? I know the church has it,s own regs that need to be adhered to as well as the IEE regs, last time I worked on a church many years ago they only allowed bare copper pyro for use inside churches, may be best to check before you buy any.

Some of the existing installation is sheathed, particularly the cables that supply the outside floodlights, so I would plan to replace like for like.

Thanks. I believe that BICC went out of business a while ago. The copper cable business was sold to Pirelli, now branded as Prysmian.

I think you will find that Pyrotenax is now a subsidiary of the Tyco corporation, BICC only sold the small cable division to Pirelli if I remember correctly
