Hi,

I'm going to be installing an outdoor socket, have no problem with the outdoor/socket side, but when bringing the internal end or the SWA into the property, need to be able to switch it. Only have hollow plasterboard void to mount fused switched spur to. But unsure of how I should terminate the armoured cable other than drilling into a plastic plasterboard box?

What is the best way to do this please?

Appreciate any help :)
Thanks.

I would take normal twin and earth to a box on external wall, joint onto swa there. Then swa is flat to wall rather than coming out wall horizontally and being bent at a tight angle.

No reason the joint box couldn’t be another socket, as it would be a fused down spur.

It’s just easier to wrangle a flat t&e behind the wall than armoured….
Usually we try to minimise number of joints to reduce possible faults… but it’ll remain accessible and easily to isolate if a fault does develop
