Well. I've got a megger efli tester supplied new 1979, but sure they were out a bit before then.
 


Loop testers have been around a long time now certainly since i've been in the trade (aged approx 13 working with my uncle, who owned a big black bakelite cased ELI tester)!!

The Waltric meter above has a patent number that suggests it was filed in 1959, but i'm sure loop testers have been around long before that. Pretty sure i've seen a WD model used in WW2 on sale on ebay some years ago....
