Hi guys,

Been reading up on Part P, inspection and testing, BS7671 etc and becoming familiar with the basic testing procedures for new circuits.

Fancy getting myself some kit so I can give it a go for real, test circuits in my own flat etc. I'm very much a hands on learner, I have to try things myself to fully understand.

Can anyone recommend a reasonable budget test instrument which would let me do things like measure circuit and earth impedances, do insulation checks, RCD tests etc?

I know a lot of people swear by the (industry standard?) Meggers instruments, but they're a bit out of my price range for the moment! Can someone recommend a cheaper alternative for a newbie to practice with?

Cheers!

Sorry but all testers are quite expensive, and yes the Megger is a nice and easy to use tester, that is consistant, you may get one of the older units, a little cheaper as they have just brought out a new one, have a surch.
