Dear all,

I would like to ask if there is any cable size calculator for DC cables? we are working on a big project and we should calculate all the main dc cables from string boxes to the inverters taking into account the different lengths and temperatures.

If someone has got a cable size calculator or knows anything, please let me know.

this is my email [email protected]

thank you in advance.

D.

Try your inverter manufacturer software, I know SMA and Fronius will do some calcs for you..........

Hi Dimcha,

It will depend on how many strings you split the array into. On domestics, If you are not using a high frequency inverter, then you would normally split it in to 2 strings which most inverters allow. So as a rough rule of thumb up to a 4kw system with 2 strings, 4mm will be fine. If you are looking at doing a single string, you need to check the inverter can cope with the voltage. However there is data around that if you do use 6mm cable then the generation is increased over 4mm. If you want to know more, let me know.
