hi, done my 2391 years ago and not done much testing since. On the forms it asks for details of Main switch; which switch does this mean ie- the one between the cut out and db or the one actually on the db? also when its a split board with switch and rcd; the rcd results for the protected circuits, is it ok to put the same results against each circuit.
sorry if being thick just might be starting some testing soon!
do you know of any links where i can get filled in examples?

Mu guess is that you're looking at the "old" PIR form and not the new and now necessary EICR form.

For information about the main switch, I would suggest you refer to Regulation 537.1.4.
For the RCD, I would imagine that the results you are being asked to enter, would be those for whichever RCD is providing protection for that particular circuit.
If one RCD protects multiple circuits, then you should enter the results for the RCD against each applicable circuit.
Whilst the procedure is still refered to as 'periodic inspecting and testing', the form is now refered to as an EICR.

Are you absolutely sure?????????????????

yyyyyeeeeeessssss.......!! as the new form is A) only applicable to installations under 100A B) for domestic or similar type installations.... so the PIR form as we know it still exists out side this remit.. so seen as its still alive its still considered usable..!

Apologies Durham, I was thinking of domestic, however at a session I attended just last Friday the recommendation from the trainer was to use the new forms on anything above 100A too!

each to there own tbh...!! providing you have test results , recomendation and obs page and install details think ya pretty much covered either way!!

Mind you, with do many people using the term "PIR", I wonder how long it will take before the majority start talking about EICR's???

That's interesting DS. Did industrial PIR's in september and november and will have to retest after corrections. So that means I can still use PIR's ?

Sorry Durham, but the requirement now is to produce an EICR, irrespective of the size of supply.

If you look at my post PIR--EICR the opinion seems to be phase in phase out period Jun 11 -- 1st Jan 2012 but the only thing is if your are doing it by Pad instead of electronic the registration companies the suppliers and manufacturers do not have the pads available even although the were meant to organise this from this time last year.

The other thing is where did you get your info that you can still use the old paperwork

Still do written PIR's then ? It seems!
