The difference being that properly made with a supporting ring under the armour and surrounded in cast resin so no movement is possible it makes a good connection

They are used on high voltage cables with heatshrink they do put a ring under the armourings tho.

Here is a couple from a job I was called to, the rewire had "just been finished by an electrician friend"
I suppose at least one of the "busbar earths" was correctly identified!

These were feeding an garage board supplying an electric shower on a 50A MCB.
Also, the water bond was taken from aforementioned garage board!

Conductor size: three sevenths of 16mm!

that is a deffo bob the builder. even a plumber could do better.
