heres the situation, old bungalow, storage heaters, old re-wireable board. 3phase supply (yes, all 3 phases and neutral taken into the property, god knows why as it has never been anything other than a dwelling). they want the board upgrading, some bonding and replace all the storage heater points with sockets, and also add a few sockets onto the economy 7 circuit so as to get cheap electric for washing/drying clothes.
is it possible to make it so the main supply switch over to the economy 7 supply so that all the bungalow has cheap electric at whatever time it kicks in?

Think you'll find the whole property goes onto cheap rate tariff at the alloted time anyway....the economy 7 time clock is just there to ensure the nightstore heaters etc connected to it (via the seperate board) can only work on cheap tariff (due to heavy load)

could be wrong but that's the way i thought it happened and the reason why some people put seperate plug in timeclocks on washing machines etc to take advantage of nighttime cheap rate from everyday use sockets.

Think you'll find that ALL the electricity used during the cheap rate period is at the lower rate. It's just a convenience having some circuits (eg storage heaters) switched automatically by the suppliers timeswitch.

Edit: Too slow. As he said ^^^^

Yeah it's that simple ExArmy....to bet the benefits for the washing etc they'll need to have some sort of time switch fitted (usualy plug ins) so they'll only work at cheap rate times.

The customer will have to be on the right Tariff set up from thier supplier to get cheap rate. If you can decifer the various tariff's each provider offers there's some in there that also give cheap rate during the afternoon aswell as night time (economy 10 rings a bell...often used for electric boiler set ups). Decifering the Tariffs can be abit of a mine feild though tbh.

You dont say if the house has a single phase supply from the 3 phase supply ? Also you may think this is odd a 3 phase supply in a house but this is quite common in terraced housing where the DNO takes 3 phases into one house then spur out to the others

3 phase goes in, then in the meter cupboard theres a big 3ph isolator and from there theres single phase to the board, and single phase to the storage heaters.
it's a detatched bungalow in a field, no supply going out anywhere
