EEBADS or ADS

Hi ive just started to test installs on a regular basis again and am not 100% sure when to enter EEBADS or ADS in the protective measure(s) box. Also would the ADS time be different depending on the earthing arrangement TNCS,TNS or TT etc?

EEBADS is 16th edition.

Replaced now with ADS.

Dont see the point of even having the box if all installs are ADS. Also what would the disconnection times be for a TNCS system 0.4? Also no I am about to do the 17th amongst other things. A bit stale at the moment. Thanks for your help fellow sparks

you still have automatic disconnection of the supply - but supplementary equipotential bonding can be omitted if there is rcd protection.


..........you still need main bonding to the gas and water.

Not all installs are ADS, most of us here will have installed and/or worked on systems utilising other protective measures, hence the box.

Acording to NICEIC inspector, this weeks visit, generally anything below 32amp is 0.4 sec.

I done it wrong, 0.4 for sockets and 5 sec for ltg and supplies to heaters etc. (all non domestic )

Surely if the installation was installed pre-17th edition with all the bonding, it would still be EEBADS because in certain cases it can rely on the bonding for disconnection?
I thought the idea behind an rcd was to disconnect due to some of the electric escaping somewhere (ie to earth).
