any advice what code to put here if CU looks ok but unsure if the wall it's mounted on, is fire rated?

4.4 in an EICR relates to regulation 526.5 which relates to the enclosure (i.e the CU) not what it is attached to. So if you are saying the 'CU looks ok' (i.e it meets the requirement of the above reg) then I cant see it requiring a code for 4.4 of the EICR.

it goes hand in hand with the IP rating

has the IP rating been compromised (this would include ill fitting fronts etc)...

if not then it could also be said that the fire protection is intact

be sure though as well to verify that the dis-board and any associated equipment is good for any external influences....caus theres a tick box for that as well...

question was theoretical, but that was what i was wondering, if CU is mounted on untreated wood or non-fire rated plaster board , possibly with a large hole in back of CU for cables to enter, does this compromise integrity of CU in regards to fire rating standards? if so, possibly a code 2?.

...I'm starting a lot of domestic EICR's shortly...possibly treat wood with a fire retardant and fill hole with a fire rated filler?...

...or am i taking this too far? lol

If like the majority of domestic CU's it's made of plastic, it's going to end up as a molten blob on the floor no matter what you do. That's whether the heat is generated within the CU enclosure or externally via a fire. In either case the plastic the CU is made from, will generally be fire retardant (eg it won't burst into flames) to some BS standard or other...
