Hi people, I have a cable that comes up into the shower. Now as it stands the old sparkie extended the cable by using connector strips then putting tape around this. He left the wire outside Of the wall which I know is dangerous. What is the best way you would fix this situation as I would be sinking the wire into the wall?

Does the cable come from above?

I would try to replace the cable back to the isolator if possible.
I have crimped and heatshrinked them before but I am never sure with the high load.

The cable has come from below. The old sparkie was short by about 15-20 cm so decided to add it odd using the connector strips. Very bad workmanship

Replace the complete cable.

My concern is that you want to sink a joint into the wall ...... Can you post a picture?

Replace the cable to the shower pull cord, if there is one? He didn't come direct from the DB did he? Is it protected by an RCD?

I really hope you haven't been using that? I'm surprised no one has had an electric shock, when was this done?

i went to look at this job yesterday and they had been using the shower!!!! They are doing the whole bathroom out and I have to replace the extractor fan too.

No electrician did that. If the cable was routed to inside the shower will it reach the terminals then?

It does look like the cable will reach,if it doesn't at least the conductors would be inside the unit if they need extending
Given the shambles on view,I suspect there may be other requirements not up to scratch
