I will be installing a new Ring main for a kitchen install and have come across a cut-out that is totally new to me.
Has anyone seen one of these..and how do I record its details on my Certificate.
Apologies. I refer to the main cable supply protection entering a domestic property. This houses the main fuse from which the supply tails then enter the meter. Have no photo yet but will get one.
If you are referring to the supply protective device, then for a domestic supply, it is usually, but not always, a BS1361. Could be a type IIb, but unless it is marked on the casing, then you either ring up the DNO, ask them if they know (unlikely), or put down N/A or unknown.
You will be installing a 'ring final circuit', not a 'ring main'.
Google it, and see what the difference is.
