I have just tested a new kitchen ring circuit - Cable layed a year ago and only now doing 2nd fix, but I have a weird IR reading on the Neutral/Earth test.
Continuity was fine, L/E, and L/N all fine.

The IR reading is around 17 megaohms but after splitting the ring and testing each section separately I found that if the backbox earthing straps were disconnected then I got >299. Reconnecting any one of these straps brought the low IR reading back.
So I believe the cable is fine but don't unbderstand how this reading is happening.

Can anyone help please?
