Need some advice on "linked" 240v smoke alarms

My daughter needs to get 240v linked smoke alarms fitted, 2 storey house, as it's fully decorated, my questions are:
Can they be linked to the lighting circuit on each floor
Any advice on what make
Can they be linked together without being hard wired to each other
I will be getting a spark to do it and sign it off as daughter is registering as childminder, but we need to know the options/upheaval

You can get units with wireless interlinking but each unit still needs its own independent power supply - this could be from the local lighting circuit on each floor.

Simple answer yes, using radio bases wired from existing light fitting. plenty of makes out there, but Aico are the favorite.

Cheers Dave, she knows she needs them but is moaning about disruption to decor, so knowing the spark can connect like that will keep her happy, as he will be able to easily link them into lights on each level

As Dave says, radio link bases are available, but are quite costly. Each point can then be wired from a local lighting point with minimal damage to surrounding decor.

May I ask why your daughter "needs" to get these fitted ?

Presume HMO, hopefully permanent live at fitting.....most modern house do...but worth checking first with your spark

True, but battery only alarms should suffice for this purpose.

Yes local social services issue licence, my wife has been registered for years and we needed linked electrical ones too,
