I have existing 230V 1P circuit (L1, L2 & Neutral) out at my deep well head. There is no practical to install/run additional circuit(s) to this location without incurring allot of expense... I need to obtain (or create) a "seperate" 120V 1P curcuit (to use in creating a set of low voltage controls) off of the existing 230V circuit..

Can I simply tie off of L1 and the Neutral to creat the seperate 120V 1P circuit I need???

Thanks for any advice!

Why not put a 230v primary 120v secondary control transformer in the box with the rest of the control gear?

Do you still use your well. If not you won’t be able to use one leg of the 240vac leg because you don’t have a neutral.

You say you have a neutral but all you have is 2 hots and 1 ground. I’ve wired many wells and I have yet to run across one that requires a neutral.
