Hi there,

Thanks in advance for you help, I hope this is not a problem which has been brough up previously, I have had a look but can't see any.

On Christmas Eve on leaving my flat for a few days, rightly or wrongly I turned off the heating etc at the RCD. On returning to the flat, turned everything on, which is where I noticed the problem. Everything works apart from the water heater. The Horstmann Economy 7 Quartz unit is working absolutely fine, which to me would suggest a fuse problem, where I might have popped something by turning on and opff at the RCD.

On the outset, would you agree?

I presume I can find a fuse behind the unit itself, and that all power to the boiler will go through to unit?

Apologies if my wording is not correct, I'm not even sure if my system is classed as a combi unit or not to be honest. I have no other water heating in the house, everything is electric. I have some images of the system if this is helpful?

Thanks once again in advance,

Matthew

There is nothing inside one of these units that you can replace. The digital ones dont like being switched off on load. This can knacker the relay in them sometimes. Are you sure it is set properly (digital ones with dodgy batteries can reset themselves) and is it switched on at the unit (thick wedge of the switch out at the top). If not you need to test to see if you have power coming out of the unit too

Thanks for your response. I've found out now thy the boost us actually working, so it's not a power issue with the unit, but could be with the thermostat. I can't see a fuse anywhere though so i'm a bit lost

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

When did you switch it all back on? Today?

Well it won't be time for the Economy 7 power to be on yet.... The BOOST will work because that power is available 24 hours.

It's not broken!

Yes but you can change the time on the economy 7 control panel to whatever you want to, so instead of coming on between 12 and 7 or whatever, it comes on when you set it to. I.e I coul put it on now and tell the unit it is 2am, and it switches on, if working!

Sorry for talking nonsense. Thinking about something else.

Simon.

Edit: Had another think about this one.

If you turn the dial to 2am, does the BOOST light go out, and does the OFF PEAK light come on?
If not, it's a mechanical failure in the timer.

Simon.
