I often come across the weird (to U.K.) and wonderful on my travels. Last night in a venue in Romania I found these interesting specimens which another knowledge space has decided are DIN56905 from the 70's, common for Eastern Europe / Communist block. Basically a universally polarised connector so it didn't matter which way you laid the cable. The other fascinating thing about that venue were the bullet holes that pock-marked the outside of it from top to toe from the '89 uprising!!
