Hi Simon and Welcome to the Forum :) .
No changes to fixed wiring are required by BS7671 when appliances are replaced. However, the detail here is the new cooker’s manufacturer may state something in their installation instructions that needs to be considered.

They might be confused regards the fitting of RCD’s when adding to circuits.

I am going to replace a consumer unit this afternoon thanks to an induction hob being installed..
The extra earth leakage on the installation from the hob causing the RCD incomer to trip..
So they may be recommending a cu change based on this kind of scenario

So what’s going to stop the hob tripping it’s circuit Rcbo after the CU change?

Give me a break, @Pete999
I was at a wedding on Saturday and I think the alcohol consumption exceeded my recommended daily intake by a week or two.

Emergency shopping on Saturday morning when I realise my “good” shoes were a size and a half too small? Don’t know how that happened when my suit still fits.

It was a strange wedding. Bride is one of my wife’s old school friends with 2 teenage kids and groom is 10 years younger. Groom is in a band too, soo he spent more of the night on the stage rather than on the floor speaking to guests.

Best laugh was just after the ceremony when new husband and wife departed to the romantic tones of AC/DC, “Highway to Hell”
