The current option isn't fibre all the way to the home either, so you've still got copper between the local cabinet and your house (and that's where the speed degredation takes place). Hopefully the cost will come down with time.

My friend has got it in york and is only about 3/4 mile from the cabinet and can download at 68meg !!

got bt infinity at mine..!! the patch cab is less that 700 yards away so i get super fast speeds!! i used to get 6 or so meg on copper but now hit nearly 34-40 meg..... noticed a vast improvement with streaming love film on my tv as well..!

at £31 all in its pricey but i needed to up my GB usage any way as i was hitting exceeding my 10gb limit so now i have 40gb and better speeds...!

Are you referring to FTTC via BT or one of its resellers like TalkTalk or FTTP via VM as the OP refered to BT SFB ??
