This may be a daft question, but I have been asked to install an outside socket on a static caravan.
As is the norm on a holiday park, the supply is via a 16A 30mA RCBO installed with a meter in a weatherproof enclosure and feeds the van via 2.5mm flex on a 16A 3 pin plug.
Usually the norm would be to either spur off an existing socket, or take the feed back (if possible) to the consumer unit, however, the easiest would be to install the socket on the cable between the caravan's hook-up 3 pin plug and the consumer unit in the van, as the cable passes the area where the socket is to be mounted.
My question is.....can I do this? or does the socket have to be fed (either directly or off another socket) from the caravan's consumer unit?
I can't see any issue as, either way, the new socket will be protected by a 16A 30mA RCBO.
Any suggestions?
