Hi,

I have been given the task of installing an automated light and heating system into a new build timber frame house. It is to have a fair sized plant room as well as swimming pool and cinema.
I have never had to contemplate anything on this scale before so any contacts or suppliers etc would be most helpful

Electrical Contracting News has a feature article on a specialist in home automation company in the current edition, i tried to pull it from the bin but no luck, i didnt actually read it, but may be a starting point.
did a hnc project on home automation so will see if i can dig something out

your out your depth to be honest

What ever you do with Home Automation Double it for ruture expansion and control as it is expanding at a rate of knots and by time you have finished the project there will be other stuff that can be controled, other ways to control it

335-pilot,
pm me and I will send you that business project, it may provide some useful info etc, but like alarm man mentioned, not to be taken lightly

Start by getting a detailed list of requirements for the overal system and getting that agreed with the client. As has been mentioned the biggest problem with these types of jobs is scope creep.

Totally agree, I am meeting with the customer on Monday and though he has only mentioned lighting and heating I feel its inevitable this will lead to music, alarms, cctv, cinema, pools and of course it will all be web based.
