I'm looking for someone to carry out lighting designs, using software, mainly for changing over current lighting for LED, does anyone know if anyone?

I've googled it but not really found anyone.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I'm importing my LED fittings from China so can't rely on a wholesaler or manufacture as usual. It should be quite a regular thing not a one off so I can't really even get them to do it as they will soon realise in not buying any lights!

Be weary importing goods especially from china unless you can tie them to a UK based distributer, the warranty is probably worthless and you may find you have a heavy bill on your shoulders if these fail, not saying you haven't done your research but I see this happen all too often just because someone is trying to save a few quid.

I've ordered some samples already. High bays panels Etc and they are identical the the ones I've been paying 3x the price for. Wattage is also correct as I've measured it. They use the same chips as well, all branded, epistar, bridgelux etc
I suppose all the wholesalers here do is order in from China!
I've seen relux but not sure how difficult it is to use..

I hope that you have CYA as the importer into the EU for the stuff and have the insurances etc. etc. in place as you will be viewed as the manufacturer and have the responsibility as the manufacturer of the kit you sell in the EU under the LVD etc.

Don't be fooled, they always send out good units as samples, them follow them with tat when you place the big orders. This is standard operating practice for them.

Out of interest how did you measure the wattage? Did you also measure the actual light output and the quality of the light?

My Boss in the UK before I left for Aus, used Lutron based intelligent lighting. Ranging from Dimmers. 0 - 10v Drivers, LED Strips to cold cathode lighting... He knows he's stuff and based in London.

As already mentioned, be careful of cheap stuff. In the past to make sure it was CE complient you could just needed to get the documentation from the manufacturer. Now The importer is always responsible for ensuring product certification and consumer safety compliance when bringing in products. It would simply be too hard for government authorities to enforce compliance in a foreign country – China included. This puts a lot of weight on the importers shoulders.

China has a habit of CE marking rubbish that doesn't comply, as they are not part of the European Market they are not bothered, will not refund or take returns.... this is why if you plan to invest money make sure your not the fall guy and you get it from a reputable European or UK distributer.

I've seen machinery built in China come over with all the CE marks but are Electrical deathtraps and then refuse to accept returns - I open the eyes to one company who were acting as the UK distributer.

Thanks for all the info- I'd genuinely not realised that CE marked hadn't the same value as it has here!

There are many legitimate companies out there so don't get me wrong but china is well known for cheap copies, reverse engineered equipment with poorer quality gear, low payed labour etc etc, Any company thinking of trading direct with China would always be wise to visit the factories and work conditions as well as the material quality before making the deal ... this also isn't always fool proof as some companies have fake premises and labour forces to cater for such visits especially for big contracts.

Very true, although the products one had so far are very good, a high bay was very impressive and circular panel lights, with the proper heat sinks around the back that a lot of UK suppliers don't use.

How do you know they were the proper heat sinks? Did you check the designs and thermal performance etc etc to confirm that they wouldn't be over or under cooled? Or did you just see a big heat sink and be suitably impressed by it?
