RCD for Stables

Hi all,what RCD should be used in a stable.Currently theres an DP isolator switch but my spark says this needs replacing with a 30mA RCD is this correct?

Forgot to state in the stables theres 1 double socket and 2 vapour proof lights.

Yep take the Advice of your Electrician and get him to test it all out afterwards.....Which he should do anyway

Section 705...Agricultural applies.
705.411.1...sockets not exceeding 32a require a 30ma rcd....all other final circuits rcd not exceeding 300ma.

Im no spark so assumming 30mA is less than 300mA?

Yes...the socket MUST be on a 30ma RCD....the lights can be on a 300ma RCD....but TBH I would prefer to put all the circuits in a stables on 30ma RCD's. If you install a 30ma RCD main switch and that trips you will lose all power,although there are only two circuits,it may be better to leave the DP main switch and install a separate 30ma RCBO for each circuit.

Yes 30ma gives much better protection than 300ma the latter protects the installation against fire
