Hi all,

I've been having a problem with my siemens undercounter fridge (model ku15r443gb/01 ) where the defrost time is too long, around 3-4 hours, and as a result it gets too warm inside during the defrost period, especially if the door is opened a lot. It's been particularly problematic in this hot weather.

The thermostat always seems to cut in and cut out at around the same temperature, but the cut in temperature is too high, tends to be about 10⁰c measured on the bottom shelf. The back wall is also always completely dry when the thermostat cuts in again, unlike my other fridge freezer and garage fridge which always still have some drops of water on the back wall when the compressor starts again.

Does this sound like a simple thermostat problem, which could be solved by replacing the thermostat with this

Bosch Fridge & Freezer Thermostat 600Mm - Part Number 00170459 | Ransom Spares - https://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/fridges-freezers/bosch/thermostat-600mm/67386.htm

Or is there any other possible cause?

Thanks for any replies

Is the defrost timer working properly? Within the last five minutes I've actually ordered a replacement defrost timer for a fridge freezer, and that one specifies a 10 minute defrost time, every 12 hours.

I don't think it has a defrost timer according to the diagram and spare parts list in the link below, I believe it just relies on the thermostat to allow it to defrost when the correct temperature is reached.
