How are you ment to test the rcd of a lighting circuit if you can't test when it's live am I right in thinking you can just use the same figure as on the socket side as it's the same RCD thanks
 
you only need to test the RCD once. preferably with the circuit/s disconnected, although most of us use plug-in lead in a convenient socket.
 
RCD test is a live test, you can do it at the CU, don't need to test the whole circuit for an RCD test.
 
You test the RCD ''Not'' the circuit. If you follow manufacturers testing instructions you will find that they all call for testing the disconnected (load side) RCD device at the CU, not downstream along the circuit....
