Morning all,

I have my 2396: Electrical design course coming up in just over a week and am very keen to pass it. I am very surprised it is still going ahead due to COVID but it is.
Has anyone on here done it and can give me and advice on what to brush up on before I go on the course, such as what maths/equations/regs to go over. I have the guidance note 1 so am interested if there are any parts of that I should start reading in preparation. I completed the 2391 about 2 years ago now.

thanks in advance.

SparkyNinja did a video not long ago about the 2396 and how to prep for it. It'll be on his YouTube channel, believe it's a members only video (£8 p/m), but nothing stopping you signing up, watching it then canceling, for what it's worth I did and found the video very insightful and useful, not that I've done the 2396 mind you.

Go over the basic calculations on circuit design such as volt drop, adiabatic, resistance in parallel etc so you know them off by heart, just one less thing to worry about.

Get to know the layout of the regs book and where your main reference points are.

I found using page flags very handy for quick reference, basic stationary, scientific calculator extremely useful.

This is an example of one of my sheets I used for circuit design to give you an idea.

Looks like you must have sat yours circa 2016??! Remember that name from the project.

MY advice for the OP, get in the way of knocking out calculations with a non scientific calculator.
