are there any good products out there for metering a single circuit in a consumer unit ?

meter has to be external to the CU (no space)

circuit is for a shared electric powered septic tank

Probably cheapest to buy a standard supply meter and just connect it to that circuit. But a Din rail meter would look better and have more functionality.
Alternatively is you just want to compare energy usage then you could connect a wireless energy monitor to the circuit or plug in a plug in energy monitor.
All depends how far you want to go.
