If I was to swap a meter for a landlord eg. What type of cert would it require? Just an EIC?

like for like? no cert. required.

MW at very most, perhaps a loop reading and conformation of earthing and a signature for the customer to have something to look at.

If this is a domestic supply them it needs to be a MID certified meter, most meters are but do check.

I look after a holiday park and have to do this quite often. Never issued a cert for it but always put method of supply, Ze and any observations on the invoice.

Its not like for like its taking out "presumably" suppliers meter (might be a private meter I'm not sure?) And putting a new one in.
I think MDJs response is good. A minor works with a few readings etc.
Cheers chaps

If you are taking out the suppliers meter and replacing it with a private meter, then I would also make sure that your paperwork has no identifying name or address details and that you use a different work vehicle that is not traceable to you.:cowboy:

I think you need to confirm the ACTUAL requirement before you think about removing the suppliers meter - that would land you in a lot of trouble

If its the dnos meter get them to change it, any other meter change yourself. Issue a minor if requested. Otherwise check for polarity and zs.

Why would I get in trouble?
Genuine question...
The suppliers electricity meter is the property of the suppliers and it is an offence to interfere with it (as they state on their warning labels).
If you are removing it this is also theft (of the meter).
Cutting the seals of the meter is also classed as criminal damage.
Removing a meter that is specifically set up to record the usage of electricity would be then classed as fraud, since you are defrauding the supplier of their means of metering.
If you have removed the meter and the result is that there is no recorded use then this is theft of electricity.

This is all I can think of at the moment.

and it would land your client in a whole heap of trouble too, as the supplier would see it as theft.

I've checked on dnos website (electricity north west) and they state the meter is nothing to do with them and its down to supplier.
I don't think the meter is actually owned by anyone. If say it was owned by British gas by customer desides to changer supplier to say eon, would British gas "sell" the meter to eon?
Personally I can't see it happening.
As for theft (abstraction of electricity) a new meter is going in straight away??
Theft of old meter -that's up to the customer as I ain't removing it!
