All,

I was given this today (see photo's below) which was provided after a gas meter was replaced.

In many ways a useful clarification of what and where is acceptable, i.e. inside the house or inside the meter cupboard!

Shame that the authors of BS7671 don't produce diagrams that are as "unambiguous"!!

The customer wasn't sure what it really meant, they will be receiving an estimate later!
 
and for some perverse reason the customer is more likely to believe they need some electrical work done when told by a gas fitter

I guess it's because they see the gas fitter as someone who doesn't have a vested interest in getting the work done
 
Or the use of the word "practical" to be Honest.

Now whoever gets one of these information leaflets and the poor old sparks does not connect it exactly 600mm ................who is going to be right the BS Regulation 544.1.2 or that nice gasman who left me those.

I'm all for advice to customers but do hate this Jack and Jill one size fits all society
