Cant code 4 it thats for not complying with bs 7671 it does comply from whats been wrote

The poster doesn't know the IP rating, and its only a foot above his head, as said if its within zone 2, and 230v, and not IPX4 < I still reckon code 4 so far.

Surely if its in Zone 2 and not IPX4 then its a code 2 as it doesn't comply with existing regs?

Nope code 4 for non compliance with current regs, code 2 is a bit ott from what we are reading here. My thoughts though, its the inspectors call.

Lets not forget, if we give this a code 2 we are by virtue saying the install is unsatisfactory. That would be a harsh call under the circumstances IMHO.

Provided it is suitable for the environment (IPX4) and its fixed it can be in zone 1 so not a code anyway.

No one has disputed this truckster, the coding scenario comments are being made against xtract fans that are NOT above IPX4.
As said previously, the OP is unsure of the IP rating.
Thats why codings are being mentioned. If its IP4X your comments regarding suitabilty within a zone 1 and zone 2 environment are not in question, so indeed no codings would apply.
