I need a ballast for a single lamp, but I only have access to a double ballast. Is it possible to use this to wire just one lamp?

more info needed. what type of lamp?

the one at the bottom of the picture is for one lamp. the one at the top is for 2. i only have the one at the top as the one at the bottom is faulty. can i wire a single lamp into the one at the top which is designed for 2 x tl5. if so, how do i wire it as im having no joy.

terminals 11,12,13 on the left are L,N,E.

tubes wired as shown on right, terminals 1 - 7. might need to fit 2 tubes

Yes, when you use an electronic Ballast you can use also just one tube. I do this experiment myself but you need to know if entirely Ballast for 2 tubes work so, for you know do not connect an defect component. Also depending on the internal electronic schematic diagram how is made if work with just one or just with both.

the ballast works with 2 tubes, so is not defective. how would i wire it for just one.

This is a pure guess because I have never tried this but use terminals 1 to 4 like it shows on the old ballast.

could have bought a new fitting and got it up before now. or buy a LED tube.

modern electronic ballasts often have lamp failure protection so that they switch off when a lamp fails and do not suffer damage, I am not sure if that particular one has such protection but it is likely. This may be why it does not work with one lamp.
