My money goes in and who needs help gets it the old , the sick , those in need of education if your unemployed and can't pay then the rest do.my prices before £2 and£4 (examples) were for if you were in hospital .I had an operation on my arm after I was run over by a white van man . I think the operation was fantastic if they said that they wanted £20 I would have paid and been happy to pay for it
I'm trying but I'm not understanding your line of thought here. Are you suggesting everyone who goes for treatment should leave a tip like you do at a restaurant?

Yes that wouldn't be a bad idea
We just have to many users and not enough givers in the nhs
So every little bit helps surely and why do you take things to the extreme every time trev ? a smAll tip of s20 becomes £20k now that is inflation
If after good service , a successful operation a show of gratitude that would go to the hospital and the amount not set in stone but what you can afford surely it would all help

You said you'd have been happy to pay £20, hence my escalation. If it carries on, not only will you still be paying exactly the same rate of taxation you are now but you'll be forced to pay for medical treatment.
How do you feel about that?
I expect dingle would be happy to let a little disabled boy lie in the gutter dying if his parents were immigrants and if they hadn't payed enough national insurance, cars and lorries driving by ignoring him because there was a sign left by the side of him from the paramedics saying he hasn't paid his 2 quid this week, gasp what the hell is going on in this country, I hope your satisfied Thatcher.

over 90 posts, the thread did work, well done all those who chipped in, see you in the politics forum next friday, I believe it is Tels turn to start next week

I take things to the extreme in the hope that if I magnify things it'll help you see that sometimes what you're suggesting is ridiculous.

All we gotta do is cap all politicians wages to a max of £50k and stop expenses and ban them from being directors/secretaries of their own or friends/relatives companies or their own sole tradership.
That'll stop greedy ba$tards going into politics and save the country a sh!t load of cash while not affecting public services.
We pay their wage yet they dictate to us. Time to turn the tables.

I believe a 650 bedroom sky scraper hotel should be built in london near the commons and all MPs can have a room there, no expenses no second homes, when you are at parliament representing your people you get to stay in the hotel free of charge, but you have to pay for your meals and thats not an expense you get back out of your taxes, do this and we as a nation may have to spend a couple of hundred million to start but long term we will save billions and they won't be able to fiddle anything.

Are you sure about that?

I mean REALLY sure??

Sure enough to bet your last pint of Creamflow???? :)

why a skyscraper, when there's loads of room in the sewers. they'll be at home with the rats.?

weil's disease, bubonic plague, black death, as well as roads, sanitation, education . oops, that was the romans.

I've been saying that for a very long time Mike, another saving would be transport costs as 13 x 50 seat coaches could be laid on daily to ferry them to and from the trough. No new building is necessary though, there's enough empty warehouse space in and around London to convert into living space.
I'd be happy to work there, I'd wire up a few chairs

Yes I have it from the horse's mouth. My mate ran a finance department, he always said he could have ran it more efficiently with half the staff he had, the good ones, but the government dictated that he needed more than he knew he did. As a consequence he had to employ idiots because usually, the good people working in that field didn't want to work in the NHS.
What do you expect me to ome out with when someone makes idiotic judgmental statements about the whole of society but then justifys it by saying that was what the people in his block were like.
Of course I'm going to call him out about such a ridiculous thing to say.

I wasn't suggesting the people who live in my block are a cross-section of society, you stated people can't and don't spend their life living on benefits, the point I was making was people like that do exist - I've seen them.
You also suggested there aren't lots of foreign workers in the UK; again, rubbish - I've seen them.

From what I've heard I agree the NHS is perfectly capable of being better and costing less, ie making spending cuts, and it seems there is a lot of dead wood that could be trimmed back, but that dead wood is probably in a union, which makes it harder to get rid of.

It isn't £20k though, and isn't likely to be.
IIRC it costs about £20 for a dental checkup on the NHS, unless you're on certain benefits, in which case it's free.
That's about £20, which when I was with an NHS dentist I was prepared to pay without the fear of it suddenly escalating to £20k, me being unable to afford it and all my teeth falling out the moment the tories got in.

Why not have a couple or three council properties set aside for mp's in there borough ?a 650 room hotel would be so bit expensive as it would never be full so make it a bit smaller.also I don't think they should have to pay for there meals but get the cooks out of a school to do the cooking , so they will know what is happening in our schools

... Like a workhouse?

Why the escalation

I have never disputed that people like that exist. What I do dispute is that the majority of benefit claimants are like that, something that you seem to believe. I also dispute your claim that you didn't try to justify your argument by using the people in your block as a representative example.
However, as far as I'm concerned that's done and dusted.
Once again, I have never disputed that there are foreign workers in this country. What I do dispute is that this is a recent phenomenon and that it is ridiculously out of control. People have always come and gone from this country just as I and many others have done in other countries. London has always been a cosmopolitan place with many accents, dialects and languages being spoken. Many other cities have been too.
I don't disagree that the NHS could be more efficient, what I do disagree with is that privatisation either overtly or by stealth is the answer.
I've said this before but you do not realise how much you have to thank the trades union movement and socialism for. If it were not for people being prepared to risk, and in some cases lose, their lives you and I would probably still be illiterate. Owing to my age there's a very good chance I'd be dead

In thAt case over a million immigrants come here every year so what happens when it's 5,6 ,7 million a year .your moaning about the nhs how would it cope then how would schools cope ? They wouldn't so let's stop it now

Yes mp's should not have second jobs full stop

Also the pm's wife should also not be allowed to work after the fiddles Mr and Mrs greedy Blair were up to speculating on property , getting caught and getting away with it plus the immigration fiddles she was up to
Both of them not a patch on Maggie's arse

Ok then we'll stop it right now.
That's your waiting times in A&E massively increased and your time on a waiting list for an operation gone up too because of a shortage of doctors.
That's a lot of civil engineering projects on the back burner indefinitely because of a shortage of civil engineers.
A lot of students who are currently on courses to qualify them in these fields screwed because of a lack of qualified people to teach them.
A lot of research which we as a nation are very good at isn't going to get done.
So your wizard plan to improve things just set us back into the 1950s. Nice one mate, well done.

If he is disabled what's he doing here in the first place if he is a little immigrant and I said nothing about weekly payments
I think she I'd satisfied got us right out of shyte after Labour put us in it as they always do

Maggie was just as much of a criminal as any of the rest of them. Evidence is emerging that she covered up and stopped an investigation into an MP having sex with under age boys. Her friends included General Augusto Pinochet and Jimmy Savile
She knew in advance that the Falklands were going to be invaded and could have stopped it by simply putting some troops on the islands and a couple of ships/subs in the area. Hpwever, she was behind in the polls and would have lost the next election so needed something to boost her popularity and bought that election with the blood of brave young men on both sides.
There is no St Margaret of Kesteven!

Maybe his little immigrant dad is the one who just saved your grannies life on the operating table.

It's when unions fight for one man who should be sacked or causing a strike over not enough desert choices in the canteen
Owing to my age there's a very good chance I'd be dead
Keep on being cheeky and you will be

And cooking Blair knew there was NO weapons of mass destruction.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They did invade she defended
That piece of trash invaded no need to and you think he.s a good guy he was and is a bad person

Again, one of the points I was trying to make citing my block as an example is it depends where you live - out in the countryside, immigration and 'career unemployment' may not seem a problem, but in more urban areas where immigrants settle it is clear to see - go into a business run by foreigners and you'll find most of the workers are also foreign, and it should be obvious that young girls breeding to have benefits and those children going on to do the same while more affluent and/or hardworking couples putting off starting a family for their careers is an unsustainable model - watch the film 'Idiocracy' to see what I mean.
Privatisation or part-privatisation of the NHS doesn't mean patients will have to start paying at the point of use, and is very unlikely to happen. It has been tried with a hospital with positive results - the hospital was run by the doctors and nurses instead of some overpaid, wasteful NHS admin team, but the only difference the patients noticed was a better quality of care.
With modern developments in media and free speech, companies should find it harder to get away with mistreating their workers and brushing their concerns under the carpet. Take this forum, or the many review sites - I recently posted details of where I felt I'd received a bad service, but the MD of the company personally called me to rectify the situation after I'd posted a bad review on Trustpilot. That was down to the power of the internet, not the unions.
Maybe in their day the unions had a purpose, but now they just seem to serve the people who work for them.

I've tried to make sense of that, hopefully I have.
I knew it wasn't you.

Over a million a year? Let's have proof of that and I'm talking about proper verifiable proof not just the crap that comes out of Farage's idiot mouth.

The NHS bit, don't quote me out of context mate. Either deal with what I say in context or leave it alone.

I think that, if it were not for socialism and the trades union movement, we'd be iliterate or dead is because the world would be dominated even more by the rich and you and I and most others would have no rights at all.

I am of the belief that if there is a shortage of skilled workers in this country then that highlights shortcomings in the education system of this country, ie we should be training our own doctors and engineers, not taking the lazy way out and importing them.
I distinctly remember Tony Blair saying his priorities were 'education, education, education', well that didn't seem to pan out for the rest of us, while him and his human rights lawyer wife did pretty well out of the human rights act.

Maybe his little immigrant dad is the one who just saved your grannies life on the operating table.
no his dad did not my granny has been dead a long time but if all the medical staff not born in this country disappeared
And all the patients to I think we would not have a problem
Everyone days that but no foreigners as patients when I go to Whitechapel hospital bloody hell it's spot the white , patient wise.they have no manners just walk to the front of the queue and then the Muslim girl behind the counter serves them if you say anything your a racist
They continuously gob on the floor the people behind the counter speak really good Bengali but some of them their English is awful, how they get this sort of work I don't know
