Hi

Can someone please expalin where MF and UF is taking from when calculating with the Lumen method.

Maintenance factor = average output when dirty / output when clean

and should not fall below 0.8

Utiilisation factor = total lux reaching a working space / the total lamp lux

the ratio depends on the room size and reflectance of the surfaces

What are the guidelies for MF, how do you work it out?

measure the luminous flux ie

Lets say a 85w lamp has an output of 5700 lm and after a few months of service has fallen to 5200 lm

MF = 5200/5700 = 0.9

It will always be less than 1

calcs no worries but guidelines i am not 100%. I would give Thorn or Aurora a buzz on there tech line. Someone will be more than happy to talk to you for 3 hours about it!?!
