Been to look at a CU upgrade today and the bonding has been done in 10mm but it is looped from Gas to Water (all one piece of cable with no cuts/joins) what i am asking is wether or not this is ok as it is or should i seperate them and run seperate bonding to each service? This is a setup i have not come across before

Thanks for the quick response Murdoch. I have always ran seperate bonds and was always trained to do so. Makes the job a bit easier if i can leave it as is :D

It has to be a continuous cable surely?
Reason to reduce the risk of loosing 2 service bonds when connection is interfered with by a plumber/gas fitter.

It is only a recommendation in GN8 that it is continuous, for the reasons you have stated, and is good practice, but it is not written anywhere that it has to be.

Another stupid example of the regs. It should read "where the equipotential bonding to gas and water are combined through the same cable it must be continuous"

Not open to interpretation!

Also the word interpretation has a lot to answer for!!!!
its all the scams now getting involved with the IET check out the few front pages of the book they are all listed
