Anyone used the new range of DB and Breakers? Look really smart and the DBs seem to have a bit extra space. Impressed from what I have seen.

Are we talking about the rebranded Merlin Multi9 stuff? If so then yeah, it's great as ever.

Looks like one big push fit board from the video

Yeah the KQ breakers and metal clad DBs, fitted one just before Christmas was really impressed and happy with them, makes a change from staring at the same stuff all the time, can't wait to do a fully loaded 12 way TP board in January with the stuff! Will get a picture up when it's done for anyone who hasn't got a clue what I'm on about!

Oh, you're on about the rebranded Square D stuff. Horrid IMHO.

fitted 1 of them the other week. good in some ways, but hate the moulded din rail and the L-N reversal on the incomer.

I've fitted them, Ive started to stay away from Schneider though due to the comical price of RCBOs. It can add hundreds onto a DB install against other brands...

Depends what type of install you're doing. If it's the odd domestic DB then Schneider is a silly brand to use, if it's heavy commercial or industrial then I'd say it's one of the only brands (now that Merlin has been rebranded Schneider) worth using!

Totally agree on the large commercial / industrial side. Haven't used anything else for the last 20+ years or so, for both LV and MV. Tell a lie, we had ABB for the main MV switchboard on one project, but the RMU's were all MG....

We tend to use ABB for control applications. Siemens and Moeller get used too.

Mainly MG/Schneider or occasionally Eaton for distribution.

Surprised you don't use some of your local Chinese distribution gear manufacturers Eng :D

Commercial and industrial...

I've stared to use Hager more instead...

Yeah, we've used it for heavier applications when it's specced. Can't really say anything bad about it. We use it almost exclusively in domestic though.

Schneider/Merlin is a fortune these days we got 3 16a rcbos recently and they were touching £200!! Just ridiculous. The most common make we come across is dorman smith which IMHO is decent kit and easy to work with. The 3ph boards are good

RCBOs are around 35 + vat. Not a bad price really and to this day Iv not had a bad one we use Schneider on all installs but we don't do domestic, a company we do work for specs Hagar and I think they are a good quality board as well. I tend to stay away from all others.. Guess in just set in my ways now!

Too true, either Merlin or MEM, Nothing else out there IMO worth installing at industrial level.

I think you'd not be saying that, if you had worked on the last 3 or 4 projects that i've worked on!! lol!! But then we are talking in the thousands being used for each of those projects and that would cover all RCD devices not just RCBO's.

Totally agree, for me it is the only one i use in the industrial world. Quality brand and built to last.
