could anybody tell me what type of overprotective device is in these as i cant shut them off to seeIMAG0186.jpg
 
The switch meachanism wil be to BS5419

The fuse will be inside, you'll need to take the cover off to find it. It may be an old porcelain 3036 rewireable inside, complete with asbestos flashguards so be careful.
 
agrre with lenny. i took one out the other week. it had a 60A HRC fuse. some are rewireable .
 
In the words of the late Ronnie Barker you may get the cover of without switching off by Ji, Ji;Ji, Jiggling the cover about a bit.

These are old ''BILL'' switch fuses, most came with HRC fuse's, Well the industrial ones did, can't say for certain what was provided in the domestic/commercial versions.... The actual switches are far superior than those available today, they were built to last!!! :tank:
