I've installed a replacement bathroom extractor fan. Pic on the left is the old one. Pic on right is the new one. Wired the same way but the fan won't work when the bathroom lights are switched on. But if I put a multi meter on the Switched Live & Live terminals, it starts working. Is the fan faulty?

The terminal block looks like it has partially come away from the circuit board, the terminals are soldered in place and I suspect at least one is broken. You applying pressure with the test leads is making them contact again.

Thanks. I wondered that as the connection block is at an angle. I'm going to replace the whole thing I've decided.

Bad news. I bought a replacement fan. Wired it in just like the first one and it's doing the same thing. If I bridge the Live and S/Live terminals with the multimeter, it worked. I know the isolator switch works as I tested it.

Check the connections at the isolator and the connections at the lights.
